Gas Powered Games Founder Loves Valve’s Newly-Announced Mac Support
March 11, 2010 - By Erin Stuelke
March 11, 2010 – Just days after Valve announced their upcoming Mac support for their Steam service, game companies are already excited about the prospects. In an article, The Escapist asked Gas Powered Games founder Chris Taylor “what he thought of Valve’s announcement that they will be supporting Macs. Taylor’s short answer: ‘I love it.’”

The article went on to quote Taylor talking about the ease of porting games from PC to Mac, “They’re both using Intel chips. So that doesn’t propose a lot of cost in changes, they’re both using ATi and nVidia graphics hardware. You’re talking about a very easy platform to bring PC games over to.”
Taylor also stated, “We, as a developer, will include a Mac platform option in all of our proposals moving forward. We’re in 100% support of it. Absolutely.”
Gas Powered Games is known for their Dungeon Siege series and Supreme Commander RTS series. If they are quick to jump at the chance to port to and create games for the Mac platform, hopefully other game developers will follow shortly.
Expanding game support to the Mac platform could result in not just potential profitability for game designers and even Apple sales, but a broader horizon and increased enjoyment for Mac users.
Valve Software initially announced its plans for expansion to the Apple Mac OS X platform on March 8, 2010, via press release on their official website. The details of the deal, as well as how existing PC gaming customers would be treated, was covered in the Geek Shui Living article, Valve’s Steam and Source Coming Soon to Apple Mac OS X, published on March 9, 2010.
What’s the only other thing that could make a Apple Junkie any happier about the decision? Simple. Find a way to take Valve’s software or a similar version to the next-generation iPhone 4G!
