Update: According to Engadget, the Droid Incredible will be available on April 29, 2010, at the price of $299 ($199 after $100 mail-in rebate). Preorders will be taken beginning April 19, 2010.
In an article posted Monday, April 13, 2010, comparing the speculative iPhone 4G hardware specs with the HTC Evo 4G, we also made reference to the impending release of the HTC Incredible. Rumored to be yet another Android offering that could potentially be a competitor (though probably not a killer) with the Apple iPhone, details were, at that time, still sketchy.
Well, it seems that not only have the specifications been leaked, but also the unconfirmed release date. According to a post on Brighthand.com, the Incredible is scheduled for release on April 29, 2010. What’s more, the Verizon Wireless Store now includes a page that confirms the device’s complete specs.

Powered by the Android OS, the Incredible is now confirmed to include the following specifications and features:
- 3.7″ 480×800 WVGA OLED Touch screen
- Virtual QWERTY Keyboard
- Camera: 8MP camera w/auto–focus and video capture
- OS: Android 2.1, Google Experience Device
- Integrated Google, Exchange & Facebook contacts
- User Interface –next generation Sense UI
- Push Gmail and Exchange
- 8GB internal memory
- 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor
- Speakerphone
- Tools: Calculator, Alarm Clock, Calendar, Stopwatch & Voice Commands
- Bilingual User Interface: English/Spanish
- Advanced Speech Recognition
- Embedded Ringtones, vibrate alert and silent
- GPS/e911
- TTY compatible
- Up to 16GB of optional microSD support
- Hearing Aid Compatibility = M4/T3
Pricing details have yet to be released, and the Verizon Wireless Store hasn’t listed yet, in their inventory of HTC devices.
At this point, there doesn’t seem to be a real threat to the current 3GS generation of the Apple iPhone. With the rumored June 2010 release of the iPhone 4G (or iPhone HD as some have called it), the chances seem even slimmer that a device from any manufacturer will be able to steal significant market share from Apple and AT&T, in the short term. If enough smartphone manufacturer HTC keeps churning out competing devices, though, Apple may eventually have to worry, indeed.
