The following is an excerpt from a PopBunker.net article by Elwood J. Blues
Ever since I was a little boy Blues, I’ve been a collector. Ever since I’ve been a collector, I’ve kept inventories. At first, it was handwritten ledgers. Those became typewritten pages, then word processor documents, then spreadsheets. For the last several years, I’ve used Microsoft Access tables.
Last week, I made a shift to an internet-based software from Collectorz.com and I have to say…I LOVE IT. Let me tell you why. Collectorz.com has software for all types of media collections: Music, Movies, Books, Comics, Video Games, and even MP3s and personal photos. You can get the Basic version (Free with the acceptance of a sponsored offer, or for $29.95), or the Pro version ($49.95). You can also buy one of three offered barcode scanners for quicker item entry….

Yep, This is really great software, We have tons of movies, around 800 dvds and blu-rays and we decided it was time to use some type of database and I tried the trial version but could only hold 50 movies, so I just bought the full version of the software and been loving it ever since.
Though there is so much stuff you can do this software and I haven’t even figured it all out yet.
I also bought the Opticon OPN-2001 Barcode scanner to scan all of the movies and it only took around 10 minutes to do all 700 movies at the time and now I organize them by ABC. It’s a pretty good system and has been working just fine.
Love this program, I might do a review of this software my self on my blog. But I been wanting to build a server that uses this software and shares it so I can access it anywheres and on any computer on my network. It’s going to be awesome.
Thanx for posting this review, I’ve been looking for a good program to inventory all my old comics. Y’all’re awesome!!
I haven’t heard a bad thing from anyone who uses Collectorz. Not only is it perfect for what I need, it’s a lot more cost effective than ComicBase or similar software.
I thought about the other scanners, but I went with the CueCat just because I wasn’t sure what else I’d use a scanner for. Didn’t need upgrade too much on a product that wasn’t going to see a lot of play.
