The official word from AT&T on In-Store iPhone 4 Availability
June 23, 2010 - By Justin E. Gehrke
Yes, we know you’ve heard enough about AT&T, Apple, and, of course, the iPhone 4 over the last several months…and maybe even years. Having said that, there are still a lot of people who are confused, following last week’s pre-order debacle. Additionally, yesterday evening saw posts around the web on AT&T’s statement on in-store availability.
For those who are still wondering, we’re laying it out quite plainly. After all, who needs confusion when you’ve already spun yourself into a virtual gadget frenzy?

The iPhone 4 melodrama hits a feverish pitch.
First of all, AT&T assured customers that pre-orders successfully (keyword) completed on June 15th should be delivered (more keywords) on June 24th. They added that the iPhone 4 will officially be available on June 29, 2010, as this date marks the official “all sales channels” date.
They also provided three basic newsbits that will help frustrated, would-be iPhone 4 owners maintain their sanity. They’re quoted directly from AT&T, lest we change their message:
“Preordered for home or business delivery: iPhone 4 will begin arriving this week for customers who preordered. We’ll send an email when each order has shipped.”
“Preordered for store delivery: AT&T retail representatives will begin calling customers this week to let them know their iPhone 4 is available for pick up in store.”
“Retail purchase (no preorder): AT&T plans to have iPhone 4 inventory – available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last – on June 29 in its retail locations, at www.att.com, and in business sales channels.”
AT&T added that if the device is sold-out in the store, customers can order and have it delivered to them. These customers, as well as those who have already ordered via the web, will receive an email when the order is placed and when it is shipped.
Embracing social media as a news outlet, AT&T has also created a Facebook page that includes general information, tips, and videos. While it may seem like too little too late for some who’ve already become frustrated by the launch, AT&T is definitely putting its best foot forward in the customer relations and support arena.
If you’ve already ordered, we hope you get your iPhone on time. For those who haven’t keep trying, you’ll get it eventually. Hopefully, the wait will make the experience even more enjoyable!
